John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers – Live at the Capitol Theatre, 18 June 1982 (Limited Edition Double-LP on 180g Blue Vinyl)
This double album captures John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers’ incredible concert at the Capitol Theatre, in Passaic, New Jersey, on 18 June 1982. Here, Mayall is joined by Mick Taylor on guitar, John McVie on bass and Colin Allen on drums.
During the first two decades of his career John Mayall has been constantly experimenting with band formats and various musicians. In 1982 he teamed up with three musicians from his previous line-ups and toured briefly in America and Australia. Taylor had left the Rolling Stones and was pursuing a solo career. McVie had taken time off from Fleetwood Mac. Allen, after disbanding Stone the Crows, had been a member of Focus.
This extraordinary set features raw, unfiltered performances that highlight Mayall’s masterful harmonica skills, gritty vocals, and the tight synergy of the Bluesbreakers. With searing guitar solos and a rhythm section that drives each track forward with relentless energy, this is a must-have for blues aficionados.
This is not just a tribute to Mayall’s enduring influence on the blues genre but a testament to the electrifying experience of a Bluesbreakers performance in the early 1980s.
